Dining Room Re-do

We spent a TON of time in this dining room as it was our only eating space in our old town home in Briarcliffe Knolls in south Wheaton. I wanted it to feel Farmhouse-Fancy!

Here is the listing photo of the dining room from when we bought the home.

Queenswood Old Dining RoomThere are three positives (and ONLY 3 positives) to this before picture. 1) The floors are actually wood so I had the option to re-stain them darker, 2) The curtains were not awful but didn’t look as nice with this wall color, & 3) There is crown and it is white.

Dining Room BIGTo achieve this more updated look I had my painter paint the walls a medium-dark grey & paint the base boards white to match the crown. I picked up the two matching China cabinets from a woman selling them on Craig’s list in Glen Ellyn (only $100 total—WINNING!!!). Got the horizontal mirror from Home Goods for $75 I believe. The French style (fake) crystal chandelier was $115 on Overstock. Our hardwood guy sanded & stained the hardwood a medium brown. Lastly, the table and chairs are from Art Van (and was about $2,500 all in. Those upholstered chairs were pricey, but I love them!)

I loved how this all turned out and I am glad people loved it too! When we sold this town home we got the highest price (and still is) in the neighborhood with multiple offers in the first 36 hours on the market over Easter Weekend 2017! Woohooo! I got to enjoy the space AND it helped us sell. PLUS the table looks great in our new place too and that was by far the biggest expense of this dining room re-do!
